This case study demonstrates the use of the LQG design tools in a process
controlapplication.Theg oal istoregulatethe horizontalandverticalthickness
of the beam produced by a hot steel rolling mill. This example is adapted from
[1]. The full plant model is M IMO and the example shows the advantage of
direct MIMO LQG design over separate SISO designs for each ax is. Type
